October 8, 2007: Aaghh!! Maia-zilla
Maia had her follow-up doctor's appointment today and weighed an astonishing 9 lbs 6 oz. Yes. That's NINE pounds. The little monster put on a pound in two weeks! She grew to 21.75" and her head circumference went up another half-inch.
The first two weeks have gone well. Daddy went back to work on the 1st and Mommy had some help from Grandma Sue last week. Amanda was amazing and brought us some great home-made, easy-to-heat dinners and hung out with Mommy on Friday.

This cute picture was taken Sunday afternoon in the midst of a milk coma.
Maia had her first doctor's appointment today and got her bilirubin levels checked. It's down to 10-something and the doctor says everything is fine. No more heel pricks for a while!
We're home! It took a lot longer than expected to leave the hospital. The pediatrician was concerned about jaundice and had her bilirubin level checked. Apparently it was elevated but not extreme so we're supposed to go in on Thursday for a checkup. Maia cried the entire way out of the hospital but had a good first night home.
Some pictures from our trip home...
Mommy and Maia wait patiently to be discharged.

First time in a carseat. This was fun... except for the 15 minutes of
blood-curdling screaming.

They say you should carry your woman over the threshold into her new home and
new life.

A bit later that day...
We had a few visitors on Maia's zeroth day.

Lorry, Maia, and Emma hanging out with us.

Jeremy, Ivy, Maia, and Amanda. Let the competition begin!

Grandma and Grandpa Peterson, Ron, Kathryn, and Annabelle stopped by. Here we are with the Petersons.

That evening we got a visit from Maia's great aunt Nancy and uncle Jan.
Somehow Jan managed to stay out of this picture with Kathryn, Nancy, Maia, and
Sue. Sneaky guy.

B-Day
Umm.. WTF is going on?

Labor + 3 hours

Labor + 5 hours

Labor + 6 hours... pretty yellow "Epidural Catheter Placed" stickers
Within 30 minutes it was time to push. Another 3 hours and Maia made her appearance...

Hey Mom. That was rough. Could you, like, buy me some new clothes. And I could
totally use some spending cash. I'm fresh out. Thanks.

Egad. I was nice and comfy. Now you went and got me naked and put me in this
silly contraption.

We're pretty sure that the rest of her was attached. If so, she is 20.5" from
crown to foot.
